Underwriting Manager Commercial-Lines Services
The purpose of this position is to oversee all activities of the Commercial Lines Underwriting Department. You will also be called upon to fully manage a team of underwriters and underwriting assistants in order to support their professional development.
Your responsibilities.
- Manage the underwriting team, ensuring that organizational processes run smoothly.
- Be responsible for developing the market knowledge and risk management skills of underwriters and underwriting assistants.
- Manage the profitability of programs under management and monitor their evolution and trends.
- Act as an advisor and technical expert on the team for the underwriting and analysis of complex new business, renewal and modification risks.
- Participate in the evolution of the underwriting team, in line with the company’s objectives, specifically in the definition of its identity, objectives, communications approach and business strategies.
- Develop, improve and maintain underwriting guides.
- Identify product improvement opportunities (wordings) and take charge of change management.
- In partnership with our actuarial resources, develop, improve and maintain product pricing and strategies.
- Act as the main intermediary in managing relationships with partner insurers.
- Ensure the negotiation and renewal of issuer contracts with various insurers.
- Identify and analyze new business opportunities in order to develop new programs.
- Participate in the development and implementation of internal audits to ensure work compliance and adherence to underwriting rules.
Your skills, your potential.
- University degree, an asset.
- A minimum of 5 years underwriting experience in commercial lines.
- Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
- Good organizational skills and ability to manage priorities.
- Fluency in French and English (comprehension, speaking, writing, reading) in order to deal with our external partners in both languages on a frequent basis.
