Do you want to actively participate in the restructuring and deployment of a commercial underwriting department (MGA/Internal Wholesaler) in business insurance? This opportunity is for you! Your main role will be to act as a key resource in underwriting for commercial P&C brokers while contributing to the development of new capacities and expertise across various classes of commercial risks. The objective of this position is to ensure compliance and application of underwriting rules to maintain adequate profitability across the managed portfolio, while providing tailored solutions to brokers.
Your responsibilities
Risk Analysis
- Analyze and rate commercial insurance submissions in accordance with insurer delegated authorities (property, liability, and automobile).
- Recommend solutions adapted to brokers’ requests, providing support aligned with the company’s values.
- Submit files requiring approval to insurers.
- Request inspections and follow up on recommendations to ensure compliance with underwriting rules.
Quality Control
- Maintain up‑to‑date procedure guides and ensure changes are communicated to brokers.
- Collaborate in the development and updating of pricing grids.
Business Development
- Contribute, alongside the Director and the team, to the development and improvement of underwriting rules and pricing practices with business partners.
- Monitor trends in the commercial insurance market and keep knowledge current.
- Actively promote the department’s services and products to brokers.
- Participate in the design and delivery of training sessions and presentations for brokers.
Your skills and potential
- AEC or DEC in Property & Casualty Insurance, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Damage Insurance Representative certification issued by the Autorité des marchés financiers; CIP or CRM designations considered strong assets.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in commercial insurance underwriting.
- Strong team spirit.
- Excellent analytical skills, strong organizational abilities, and attention to detail.
- Negotiation skills and strong commitment to high‑quality customer service.
- Solid computer skills (Windows environment, MS Office).
- Bilingual, able to collaborate frequently with English‑speaking partners and suppliers.
- Strong interest in innovation, critical thinking, and solution‑oriented mindset.
