The primary objective of this position is to guide policyholders through the various steps of the claims process with a professional and dedicated team. You will be called upon to investigate, estimate and negotiate with various suppliers to simplify the lives of Commercial Lines claimants. At Lareau Insurance Brokers, claims adjusters are key contacts and resource people!
Your responsibilities.
- Take charge of policyholders’ claims with the various insurers:
- Determine the coverage provided;
- Investigate the causes of various claims, validate the coverage included in the insurance contract and establish a claims strategy;
- Follow up with the various parties involved in a claim (appraisers, engineers, post-claim cleaners, etc.);
- Negotiate with various insurers to obtain the best terms and conditions for our policyholders, based on applicable wordings;
- Evaluate the application of the proportional rule in files;
- Contest files denied or involving the application of articles 2410 and 2411 of the C.C.Q.
- Direct, support and advise insureds on the steps to take to settle their claims;
- Coordinate communications between stakeholders (Lareau brokers, independent experts, customers, etc.);
- Be proactive in proposing solutions to the various issues raised in files;
- Be available to travel on major claims (fire, water damage, climatic storms) depending on the analysis of the insured’s complete file;
- Be available according to an on-call schedule to be determined according to the needs of the department, both weekdays and weekends;
- Communicate with the Broker to establish a plan of action;
- Meet with insureds and various stakeholders at the claim site;
- Provide the necessary support to policyholders;
- Establish a network with the various parties involved to ensure proactive claims settlement.
- Review all documentation relevant to the claim (policy report, equipment list, proportional rule assessment, etc.);
- Ensure constant communication with the Commercial Lines Damage Insurance Broker;
- Conduct satisfaction calls after claim closure;
- Complete claims slips and tables in connection with claims follow-up;
- Perform all other related tasks.
Your skills, your potential.
- Have a Bachelor’s degree in law, administration or related field;
- Certified claims adjuster with the Autorité des marchés financiers;
- Be available during the day, evenings and weekends for major claims;
- 5+ years experience in commercial claims adjustment;
- An established network of contacts in the property and casualty insurance industry;
- Demonstrate structure and organizational skills;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and Windows environment;
- Be bilingual (French and English, spoken and written) to ensure an inclusive customer experience for English-speaking customers.
