Acturial Advisor
Reporting to the Vice President Products, you will provide leading-edge expertise in pricing, underwriting rule development and product development for business segments where Lareau has delegated authority from insurer partners. You will use a variety of analytical tools, including advanced analytics and generative AI, to improve information understanding and decision-making in Lareau’s Product team. This role covers both personal lines and commercial lines.
Your responsibilities.
- Establish and implement pricing strategies for the various products for which Lareau has delegated authority.
- Participate in the development of new products, in conjunction with the Lareau underwriting team and partner insurers.
- Use various analytical approaches to analyze and improve underwriting rules and processes.
- Analyze the profitability of programs under management and recommend actions to generate profitable growth.
- Compile various information on portfolio composition, transactions, claims and present this information to internal stakeholders or partner insurers.
- Participate in the negotiation and renewal of issuer contracts with various insurers.
- Identify and analyze new business opportunities in order to develop new programs.
- Contribute to the development of Lareau’s analytical environment and the evolution of the data ecosystem.
Your skills, your potential.
- Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or a related field.
- Three to five years’ actuarial experience in pricing, underwriting or product development in the property-casualty insurance field.
- Proficiency in Excel, SQL queries and at least one data science programming language such as Python or R.
- Master “prompt engineering” and be adept at using generative artificial intelligence tools to perform some of the work.
- Demonstrate leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
- Good organizational skills and ability to manage priorities.
- Fluency in English and French (reading, writing and speaking), to be able to collaborate with external partners in both languages on a regular basis.
